From Sydney universities winning NPL Grand Finals to Aussie teenagers banging home goals in Iceland, there is no cracking strike too far or heart-warming moment too brief to escape the guise of TWG's football-expert, Kristin Shaffer.
THREE BEST MOMENTS
3. AUSSIES STILL ON DISPLAY IN USA DESPITE NO NWSL
The NWSL league had the week off from play leaving the Aussie highlights in the USA up to the collegiate players. Luckily, plenty of them were in action and getting quality minutes. All positions were covered from goalkeepers to forwards and if you turned a women’s football game in America you most likely saw a game featuring an Aussie.
When the NWSL picks up later this week and NCAA football continues be sure to check to see if your favorite player happens to be playing over in America.
2. MATILDA HOME MATCHES SET
Australia is hoping to host the 2023 Women’s World Cup, but fans will not have to wait four more years to see the Matildas on home soil. The team announced that they would be playing two games in November, hosting Chile for both matches.
The first match will take place on November 9th in Sydney followed by a game on November 12th in Adelaide.

1. SYDNEY WINNING THE NSW NPLW
Not only was Sydney University SFC the regular season champions, but they also took home the trophy in the grand final. Often times teams can take care of business in the regular season winning week after week.
However, when it comes to the final game they cannot quite shake the nerves and find their rhythm to take home the championship. Despite a great performance by the Northern Tigers Sydney University proved to be too much.
