With second place on the line, Melbourne Victory rose to the occasion and sealed their fate with a 3-1 win over Sydney FC.
Teresa Polias - 6
Did not look like her usual self at all. Sydney had plenty of chances especially in the beginning of the game and Polias was the one sending in the free kicks. However her free kicks were well off the mark and she had poor passing as well. Polias was subbed off in the 55th minute and it was deserved.
Lindsay Agnew- 7.5
Quite possibly the best chance for Sydney all game came from Agnew. She took on McCormick 1v1 and won the battle with great footwork, but could not connect in front of goal.
Alanna Kennedy- 7
A centre back on a team that concedes three goals is never an ideal game. Kennedy did clear out a lot of the chances from Victory, but was unable to do much on the three goals.
Ellie Brush - 7
The opening goal for Sydney is going to be debated about whether it deserves to be Jackson’s goal or an own goal from Brush. Regardless, the poor marking by Brush led to the goal and she had a pretty underwhelming performance overall.
Angelique Hristodoulou - 7
In the first goal she was the defender who got beat by Dowie that allowed the ball to be sent into the box. Not the defender's best game, but she was able to keep Dowie from scoring any goals.
Aubrey Bledsoe - 7
She had a few saves and all three goals Bledsoe could do nothing about them. Defence fell a part on the first and third goal and the second was an excellent shot by Jenkins.
SUBS
Remy Siemsen- 8
Came in with a chip on her shoulder wanting to look like the player who should have stayed in the starting lineup. Created some chances, looked like a spark for Sydney, just nothing on the statsheet to show for it.
Natalie Tobin- 8.5
A late sub in the game, but used her minutes wisely. Tobin had a cracking goal in the dying minutes of the game, that could prove to be crucial for goal differential.
Mackenzie Hawkesby- 7
Came on for 25 minutes of work. Did not have too much impact on the game, but did not slow down Sydney in any way either.
