Australia have got their tour of Malaysia off to the best possible start with a six-wicket win in the opening One-Day International match against Pakistan.
In a match which saw rain during the Pakistan innings, Australia was clinical with the ball as they restricted them to 95 runs.
Player of the Match Megan Schutt (3-17) and Nicola Carey (3-19) played an important part in the victory, while ODI debutant Georgia Wareham (2-22), Sophie Molineux (1-9) and Ashleigh Gardner (1-9) were also among the wicket-takers.
Australia's bowler dismantled any hope they had of reaching triple figures with Javeria Khan and Sana Mir were able to reach a high of 21 runs.
With the bat Australia started strongly, reaching 40 before opener Alyssa Healy was bowled for 26. Fellow opener Nicole Bolton (22) looked to steady the ship but her departure, along with that of Meg Lanning (4) and Ellyse Perry (1), halted Australia's momentum.
Vice-captain Rachael Haynes (24) and Beth Mooney (16*) got their side back on track, Australia reaching the revised total of 92 in the 23rd over.
"I think we bowled pretty well, it was a pretty skinny wicket but I think we adapted to that and keeping it to a low total was a good observation of that but I think the batters were work their way in the nets and learn things but that's what it takes coming to places like this," Schutt said.
Australia will face Pakistan for their second ODI on Saturday morning.
