The Dash’s victory propelled them into first place where they have a 3-1-1 record. The loss dropped the Royals to second. Clare Polkinghorne played a full 90 minutes for the Dash and Kyah Simon was an unused sub.

Orlando Pride went up against the Portland Thorns, the second time this season the teams have played one another. The last time they met the Thorns won the game 2-0.

This time around the game got off to a quick start with Pride taking an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. The Thorns were quick to equalise and even able to get another goal before the half concluded going up 2-1.

The second half started with Hayley Raso entering the game making her 2019 season debut for the Thorns after having troubles with her visa.

The other two Aussies on the field for the Thorns helped put the game out of reach for the Pride.

Ellie Carpenter dribbled the ball into the right side of the 18-yard box with some cheeky play where she was able to get end line and send a cross into the box. The ball was deflected but luckily it landed right to Caitlin Foord who volleyed the ball into the net.

Caitlin Foord had another opportunity to score when the Thorns were awarded a penalty kick.  However, the Pride goalkeeper made a great diving save to keep the ball from going across the goal line.

The Thorns would go on to win 3-1 and improve to 3-0-1 on the season which has them in fifth place. Pride suffered their fifth loss of the season dropping to a 0-5-1 record putting them in last.

Carpenter played 90 minutes for the Thorns and Caitlin Foord played 80 minutes. Emily van Egmond played a full game for the Pride while Alanna Kennedy was unavailable due to a left quad injury.

The final game of the weekend had the Chicago Red Stars host the undefeated North Carolina Courage. The Red Stars were hoping to give the Courage their first loss of the season and were able to get an early 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.
