If you’d told the stars of the Women’s Big Bash League that they’d be seeing out their season from a Sydney hub, they’d tell you you’re dreaming.
But it's now an innovative reality for the world's best female cricketers in the leading women's domestic league, who will kickstart their WBBL | 06 Campaign in New South Wales this Sunday.
Every side from around the country has entered their Sydney-side hubs, located in the Rebel WBBL Village in Sydney Olympic Park, ahead of the season-openers scheduled for Sunday 25 October and Monday 26 October.
That's more than 250 players, staff and families who will be quarantined in order to run the competition smoothly in 2020.
The full 59-game season will be played out of the Rebel WBBL Village in Sydney Olympic Park, with excitement building from every state for a new format in 2020. Additionally, more than 20 international players and staff will join the hub life here in Australia .
More Rebel WBBL games will be broadcast this season than ever before - a year-on-year increase of 57% - building on the success of the first-ever standalone tournament in 2019-20.
And for those who cannot attend games live, Cricket Australia's Head of Big Bash Leagues Alistair Dobson said there is opportunity for anyone in Australia to support their sides wherever they may be.
"We encourage our fans in Sydney to come along to the ground and for everyone around the country, to tune in on Seven, Fox Cricket, Kayo, cricket.com.au , the CA Live app and ABC Radio from this Sunday.
“The build-up to rebel WBBL | 06 has been massive in every sense of the word… so much work has gone in from everyone across Australian Cricket to make the Village and League a success,” Dobson said.
Eight matches will be played across North Sydney Oval and Hurstville Oval this Sunday and Monday, highlighted by a Sunday double-header on the Seven Network, Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports.
Below is the opening round fixture so you can join in on all the action of WBBL | 06 this year, whether you can attend or watch from home.
