Despite the average age of players being the highest in the competition’s history, there will be a total of 26 players under the age of 20 competing at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Grez will be the smallest player at this year’s world cup at only 148cm tall. She made her senior team debut against Brazil in 2017. And last year she represented Chile in the South American U-20 Women’s Championship scoring two goals.
Rasheedat Ajibade
Age: 19
Country: Nigeria
Position: Midfield
Caps: N/A
Ajibade is no stranger to big competitions as she captained Nigeria at the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. In 2017 she was one of two top scorers in the Nigerian Women’s Premier league and tied for the second highest goal scorer at the WAFU Women’s Cup last year.
Saori Takarada
Age: 19
Country: Japan
Position: Midfield
Caps: N/A
In 2018 Takarada played a vital role in Japan’s U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign. She scored a total of five goals including a hattrick against Paraguay and was crucial in her team winning the title. Her efforts saw her receive the player of the match award for the grand final and she was later named the AFC Youth Player of the Year.
Jun Endo
Age: 19
Country: Japan
Position: Forward
Caps: 4
Teammate of Takarada, Endo was also an integral part of Japan’s U-20 Women’s World Cup championship team where she played in all six games and scored two goals. Her senior team debut came earlier this year when Japan played hosts USA at the SheBelieves Cup.
Olufolasade Adamolekun
Age: 18
Country: Jamaica
Position: Forward
Caps: 3
Despite being eligible to play for the USA and Nigeria, Adamolekun chose to represent Jamaica and made her international debut at the CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship Qualifications last year. She scored two goals in her first appearance for the senior team against English club Nottingham Forest Ladies. Her senior international debut came in February this year in a friendly against Chile.
