After the heartbreak of being disqualified at the Commonwealth Games last month, Claire Tallent has claimed a bronze medal at the IAAF World Road Race Walking Team Championships.
Tallent, who was on debut in the women's 50km walk in Taicang, China, set a new personal best and national record (4:09:33).
She broke away within the opening 5km but at the halfway mark she dropped back from the group.
Despite the pouring rain at the 30km mark, she reconnected with the group and as Rui Liang of China split the lead group with her accelerated burst it opened the chance for Tallent.
She was in fourth passing through the 40km mark, as the Chinese athletes looked certain for a clean sweep, but in the final 5km of the race, she surged pass Maocuou Li and into third.
