Mixed results for Australia on their first day of competition at the Women's World Softball Championships in Chiba, Japan.
Game 1 saw the 4th ranked Aussies take a 7-1 win over 17th ranked Venezuela.
Venezuela scored the first run in the second innings giving them the lead, but the Aussies came back scoring two in the 4th and thumping in five more in the 6th innings.

Game 2 for the Aussies pitted them against 12th ranked China. Australia was unable to score and went down 1-0 with the only svore coming in the 5th inning.
China dominated the hits with 7-2.
