The Matildas have been draw in Group F for the Rio 2016 Women's Football Tournament alongside world no. 2 Germany, Canada and Zimbabwe.

Playing in their first Olympic tournament since 2004, Australia's opening match will see them take on Canada on 3 August 2016 in Sao Paolo followed by Germany on 6 August 2016.

Alen Stajcic's side will finish their group play against surprise African outfit Zimbabwe on 9 August 2016.

“It’s an exciting draw playing Canada first up and then another top ten team in Germany before facing Zimbabwe,” said Stajcic.

“It’s a very exciting group and we know that if we play to our potential we can be really competitive.”
