Lawrence won both women’s kayak and canoe events at the Canoe Slalom Senior National Championships over the weekend.

The 29-year old put down a time of 109.09 seconds in the final run to take the gold ahead of  Noemie Fox and local Tasmanian Kate Eckhardt. Lawrence also took home the women’s K1 gold ahead of Eckhardt and Fox.

“I’m very happy to come away with the win in both events," Lawrence said.

"There were a lot of things from my race runs that I need to work on but it’s hard to nail the perfect run at Brady’s Whitewater Course.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect results-wise, the other girls are tough competition and Kate had the home course advantage. I think all of us were aiming for gold with Jess (Fox) choosing to sit out nationals.”
Fox and Lawrence teamed up with former national team paddler Alison Borrows to also win in the K1 team event on Thursday.

World no.1 and 2018 double World Champion Jessica Fox did not participate in the event as she wanted to focus on training for a long international season after spending an extended period out of the water at the end of last year following surgery.
