Hockeyroos duo Rachael Lynch and Rosie Malone have been nominated for major honours at the upcoming and prestigious International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hockey Stars awards.
In the women’s categories, Victorian Hockeyroo Rachael Lynch was nominated for the FIH Goalkeeper of the Year gong, while Gold Coast’s Rosie Malone was shortlisted for the FIH Rising Star.
Warrandyte product Lynch was heroic for the Hockeyroos during their World Cup in midyear in London, including several saves in their quarter-final shootout win over Argentina.
Lynch was also exceptional at the Commonwealth Games, where the side won silver, not conceding one goal until the final.
Malone debuted for Australia in January and netted her maiden international goal at the World Cup. She also scored two goals at the Champions Trophy in November.
The winners will be decided by a fan vote on the FIH website, which is open until 18 January 2019. Head to www.fih.ch/hockeystars to vote.
