Australia's Annette Edmondson is in third place after the first stage of the AMGEN Tour of California.
Riding for Wiggle High 5, Edmondson finished six seconds behind the pace of American Kendall Ryan after the 124km stage.

Edmondson also picked up 9 sprint points and sits third on the table.
Finishing just four seconds behind Edmondson are fellow Australian's Lauretta Hanson and Wiggle High 5 teammate, Macey Stewart.
Stewart sits in fourth position in the Young Rider category.
Stage 2 is for climbers with a 12.7km 6.1% category 1 incline as well as a category 2 and 3 climb across the 108km course.
The final stage finishes with a quick 70km flat sprint through Sacramento.
