Former Collingwood and Diamonds defender April Brandley has joined the giants as a nominated training partner for 2020.
After April and her husband Jason welcomed their son into the world back in February, the couple decided to make the move up the New South Wales to be with family.
Brandley was asked by giants coach Julie Fitzgerald to assist the team in match play after training resumed from the COVID-19 Hiatus
With young defender Teigan O’Shannassy out indefinitely with illness and training partner Toni Anderson not being able to join the Giants hub in Queensland, Brandley made the decision to join the hub after a conversation with Fitzgerald.
Brandley spoke to Giants Media “Everything has sort of happened a lot of sooner than expected, but I’m certainly keen to get back into it all.”
Brandley was a foundation player for the Collingwood magpies, most recently playing in the Semi Final against the Vixens 16 weeks pregnant.
