With the re-signing of Steph Catley, Melbourne City have firmly placed their name among the ever-increasing list of W-League Championship contenders.
Catley enters a squad already jam-packed with Matildas and international talent, but her signing on as captain for a further season also adds increased stability to the squad.
“I’m extremely pleased to return to Melbourne City for another season,” Catley said.
“We’ve assembled a really strong squad for the upcoming season, and as a team, we’re determined to return to playing finals football.
“I’m proud to wear the captain’s armband for another year and I believe that we can achieve something special this season.”
Rado Vidosic heaped praise on the fullback, who returns after a successful personal season with NWSL club Reign FC.
In Catley, Vidosic maintains City possess one of the best in the league across many different attributes.
“Steph is a world-class fullback, with a winning mentality and a strong drive to succeed.
“Her distribution is up there with the best in the league, as is her ability to work tirelessly on the wings to assist both in defence and attack.”
