The 2019 NWSL started back up this week with plenty of action from the Aussies.
NWSL (USA)
The first match of the season took place between the defending NWSL Champions, the NC Courage, and the Chicago Red Stars.
Sam Kerr, a forward for the Red Stars, wasted no time and netted the first goal of the NWSL season in the 26th minute.
Kerr was able to get in behind the defense and buried the ball into the lower left of the goal. It was the first goal of the NWSL season and her 60th NWSL career goal.
First goal of the #NWSL season goes to @samkerr1 of @ChiRedStarsPR!

Late in the game with the score tied up at 1-1 Kerr received a cross inside the six-yard box. Leaping into the air she nearly gave the Red Stars the lead but was denied by the crossbar.
The game eventually ended in a 1-1 draw.
The second game of the season saw the Washington Spirit took on Sky Blue FC.
Amy Harrison and Chloe Logarzo joined the Spirit this season, but neither saw action in the match. Harrison was an unused sub and Logarzo was not available for the game. The Spirit defeated Sky Blue 2-0.
The next day in league play had the Orlando Pride host the Portland Thorns. Caitlin Foord was able to score her first goal in the NWSL late in the first half.
A perfectly tapped ball near the top of the six yard box was placed at Foord’s feet where she shot the ball passed the goalkeeper in the left corner.

A cheeky assist from @TobinHeath, too, and @ThornsFC are on the board just before halftime.

With the 1-0 lead to start the second half, Foord added an assist to her score sheet. She had a one touch cross to her teammate Tobin Heath who heel flicked the ball into the net.
This goal was awarded the NWSL Goal of the Week.
Seems only fair that @CaitlinFoord repay the favor to @TobinHeath.

Ellie Carpenter notched a full 90-minute performance in the Thorns 2-0 victory. Hayley Raso was not with the team as she is trying to finalize her visa.
Alanna Kennedy and Emily Van Egmond were both unavailable for the Orlando Pride where they were sidelined with illnesses.
Later in the day, the Houston Dash faced off against Reign FC. The back and forth match produced a 1-1 tie.
Elise Kellond-Knight entered the game in the 26th minute for the Reign due to an injured player. Lydia Williams was an unused sub in the game and Steph Catley was injured with a calf strain.
The final game of the week took place between Pride and Courage. Both teams were looking for their first wins of the season, but the Courage looked in command for the entirety of the game, winning 5-0.
Van Egmond and Kennedy were both able to start and play a full 90 minutes for the Pride.
While the NWSL was just starting up their season the Primera División and Topperien continued their season including the teams that have Aussies are represented on.
Toppserien (Norway)
Tameka Yallop’s Klepp IL have made a fantastic start to the 2019 season as they continued their undefeated streak with a 1-0 win over Røa on Saturday.
They sit second on the ladder on goal difference with Vålerenga leading the way.
Primera División (Spain)
Reigning Champions Atletico Madrid still sits on top of the table but by just three points with Barcelona able to pounce if they slip up. Atletico's latest win came on Saturday against Sporting Huelva however, Alex Chidiac didn't feature.
The Adelaide-born Matilda has only made six appearances for the team this season, her most recent coming on March 30 in their 3-1 victory over Real Betis.
For Aivi Luik, who is at Levante, she featured as a substitute in her sides 4-0 win over Logroño.
The team will likely retain their third place on the ladder with fourth unable to catch them with just two rounds left while Barcelona has an 18-point lead in second.
