Collister and Flannery link up

Nicki Flannery and Teigan Collister were both outstanding for the Jets tonight, but it was the 23rd minute of the match where the magic happened.

A first-time cross from Collister found the feet of Flannery, who swiftly placed the ball in the bottom right corner and past the Perth keeper Eliza Campbell. Flannery’s first goal for the Jets gave them the early advantage, sending the Glory into the dressing sheds down 1-0.

Flannery had a few more chances to add goals to her tally, most notably in the 75th minute when her side-footed shot rolled to the left of the goal and deflected off the post – Flannery would have to settle with one goal to her name.

Collister provided some amazing pace on the left flank, working hard both defensively and offensively for her side. She delivered a surplus of quality crosses that gave Newcastle a number of attacking chances. The young winger expertly applied pressure to Perth’s defence, forcing the ball into the corner and making it hard for the Western Australians to play out.
