CANBERRA UNITED VS WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS

With Christmas in our wake, a few extra kilos on board and New Years on the horizon, we were all excited for Boxing Day football...

The round started off with a bang as Canberra succumbed to a second half torrent from the W-League's team to beat, Western Sydney. It was even stevens until Kyra Cooney Cross set the competition alight (in more ways than one). It was supposed to be Santa and his reindeer, alright?

Once again, it was a question of timing for many fans (in fact, the same fan as above) upset with the conditions Dub players are enduring at the moment.

But it certainly wasn't harming the athleticism on offer from the game's muscly maestros

All in all, another Wanderers thrashing to add to their 5-0 rout of Sydney and push their goal difference to +13 by the halfway mark. But there's one coach who'll be feeling pre-tay hard done by after such a close start to the game.

PERTH GLORY VS MELBOURNE VICTORY

By the time Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory rolled around, we had the appetite for goals. That said, perhaps we shouldn't have expected many sans-Kerr...

Before the match even started there was a goalkeeping battle brewing at the Big V...we can't believe we even thought it was a possibility.

Hard luck Perth, you're not the first or the last to suffer that fate this season.

But oh, did we get what we asked for...just a few days after Christmas.

Perth weren't to be disheartened or denied by Amy Jackson's heroics however, as at the entire other end of the age spectrum, they had their own delightful threat.

It turned out to be a cracking content, albeit one our fellow sleep-deprived journos were wishing could have come a little earlier.

Just remember everyone, perseverance pays off.

SYDNEY FC VS ADELAIDE UNITED

Third match of the round and Bloody Dub Hell, these strikes are getting absolutely ridiculous.

Just watch that one again (P.S. We believe she's a Princess, Francis, but we'll probably accept Goddess, God, Queen, King, whatever)

No wonder the crowd was packed in. Goes to show what an audience does to these incredible athletes.

The right type of crowd as well.

Adelaide were once again great value and darn unlucky, with a few crackers going just wide of the target.

They're certainly building something special up there in Adelaide with the youth in their roster, but the question's gonna be asked - how long can Ivan Karlovic hold out with this run of losses?

But despite the fact that Sydney walk away with a confidence-restoring win after their shellacking last week, there remains a few question marks over their performances. A bit of a mid-season crisis at the Sky Blues? Time will tell.

BRISBANE ROAR VS NEWCASTLE JETS

Meanwhile, in BrisVegas...

In fact, there was a lot of head tennis going on.

They may have been held simultaneously, but this is what split screen technology was invented for.

To be honest, it was one way traffic for most of the match. Brisbane are beginning to look better as the league enters the mid-season point. But Newcastle certainly have some assets at the back

But, in the end it was all smiles, on and off the pitch. It's just about having fun...right guys?
