Australia will host a three nations U20s tournament featuring the USA and Canada in Canberra next week,
Held at the Australian Institute of Sport, the tournament is part of the Young Matildas preparations for the AFC U19 Women's Championships to be held from 15–28 October 2017 in China.
The United States will head to Australia with their U18s team while the Canadians have selected an U20s team. All three nations are currently in preparations for the next age tournament, the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in France.
This camp is presents a significant opportunity for Young Matildas head coach Gary van Egmond to assess potential players against strong competition.
It is part of the extensive preparation for the Young Matildas who are looking to qualify for the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup for the first time since 2006 – the only time Australia has qualified out of the AFC.
Australia's path to France 2018 is a tough one with U-20 Women's World Cup bronze medallists Japan and former U20 bronze medallists Korea Republic both drawn in their group alongside Vietnam.
