A 16-year-old with the opener and a 17-year-old with the winner. The kids were alright in Western Sydney Wanderers' season opening 2-1 win over Adelaide United at Marconi Stadium.
ADELAIDE RATINGS
Sarah Willacy - 8.5
She had a phenomenal last season and we were doubting whether she would replicate it again, but oh yes, she is going to replicate it again. Could well be a contender for golden glove.
Yes, she shipped two goals, but we can't really hold either of them against her. Even Cooney-Cross' she was outsighted.
Charlotte Grant - 7
She has a certain je ne sais quoi on the ball, but is perhaps slightly under-utilised. She’s also arguably over-physical and could have had two yellow cards by the 60th minute.
Laura Johns - 7
Outmatched her Western Sydney opposing defenders, seemed very well marshalled. She’s an Ivan Karlovic subject if we’ve ever seen one.
Julia Ashley - 7
She may be a very astute signing indeed. She looks very composed for her relatively little experience.
Amber Brooks - 8
Heavily involved, very confident and full of life. She will be very important for Adelaide this season, as her character and determination is absolutely crucial to this side.
Dylan Holmes - 7
A very solid display, always aware of her opposing markers and eventually proving key in Adelaide's ability to restrict the Wanderers' midfield talent.
