It was a tough game for Adelaide United with the Lady Reds forced to fight both Canberra United and the weather conditions.

In the end they lost both fights with Canberra's four first half goals giving them a 4 - 0 win despite the game being abandoned in the 68th minute due to torrential rain.

Brisbane Roar on other hand gave Melbourne Victory a 4 - 1 hiding with the 3 points catapulting them to the top of the W-League ladder for the first time this season.

The Lady Reds would be scratching their heads as to why this season hasn't been going to plan as they sit in last place, having scored only one goal. It’s a shame the Lady Reds still find themselves in this situation, as the gap between winning and losing for them is extremely minuscule and could be set right by scoring a couple of early goals.

Despite the results its still a very talented side boasting the likes of Katrina Gorry, Victoria Balomenos, Angela Fimmano and Donna Cockayne just to name a few. The opening half of this match will be vital and if the Reds can hold out, they could put a good showing.

Make no mistake, this unforgiving Roar outfit will not be looking to take it easy on the Lady Reds as they hope to solidify and build on their first place position at the top of the ladder!Tameka Butt continues to be a sensation in the League with the understated midfielder/forward's two early goals showing that she will be a strong contender for a place in World Cup squad.

However, Butt is not the only Roar player showing good form. Comeback kid Lisa De Vanna slotted her third of the season while youngster Emily Gielnik demonstrated the immense depth in the Brisbane squad.

At this point in the season, bookies would be handing out very short odds for League favourites, the Roar, to take out this years Westfield W-League title, in contrast with Adelaide United's potentially long odds. Although it would be prudent to remember in their last meeting, the Lady Reds shocked Brisbane Roar on the Roar's home patch with a courageous 2 - 2 draw.
