Heading into the final week of the Westfield W-League, the Melbourne Victory stand on the verge of qualifying for their first ever finals series.

The Victory have Young Matildas’ striker Stephanie Catley for putting them in this position with her second half strike meaning a win will see the Melbournians play finals.

So the equation is simple for the Victory; Win and they finish fourth. Win big and they take third. Most likely they will travel to

Campbelltown next week but considering where Vicki Linton’s side were at weeks ago after a home loss to Perth, its safe to say they won’t care.

For Adelaide United, well its been a horror season despite the fact that it had started so positively for the South Australians with some strong signings and the return of talented young players.

Unfortunately, Mike Barnett’s young troops were unable to match it with some of the big guns, and with extinction hanging over their heads, it has been a difficult last couple of weeks on and off the pitch. In saying that, they have put in a couple of credible performances and Barnett would be hoping for one final effort from the Lady Reds.

The last time these two sides met Melbourne romped home with a Jodie Taylor inspired 4 – 0 victory.  With plenty on the line, it will be a huge effort for Adelaide to hold them off.
