The 68-8 win sealed top spot in Conference A for the Crows plus a home preliminary final.

Melbourne were still in the hunt for finals but now the match goes down as their lowest total ever since the Brisbane 1.4 in the opening round of the inaugural season.

It probably wasn't what the 2239 fans at the ground were expecting when they took their seats on Saturday afternoon.

The midfield from Adelaide essentially dominated the heart of the Demons play, which was also their midfield.

Melbourne was held scoreless until the third quarter where they managed a behind.

"Our strength has been our midfield and their midfield dominance with Marinoff and Phillips combined had 16 clearances and starved us of opportunities to go forward," Melbourne coach Mick Stinear said.

"Their pressure limited our ball use. It probably didn't look like us because Adelaide took it away from us."

It was shaping up to a bit of an embarrassing match for the home side, as they were staring down the tunnel of not scoring a goal for the first time ever. However, defender Chantel Emonson stepped in to save the Demons' with a late goal in the final quarter.

Unfortunately for Melbourne, Casey Fields hasn't been a fortress this season, going down to both Fremantle and North Melbourne by four points earlier this season.

For the Crows, it is their second finals appearance in three seasons. They took out the inaugural AFLW Premiership in a six-point win over the Brisbane Lions.
