In a year that saw strides taken towards equality across sport, rugby union wasn't going to be left behind.
However, it was surprising for many to find out that Australia's women's rugby union team, the Wallaroos, had never been paid to play.
But that all changed in 2018.
So after the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) was signed in December last year, the Wallaroos were set to receive match payments for international tests.
The Wallaroos had just two test matches in 2018 and it came in historic fashion against New Zealand. For the first time on home soil, the Wallaroos and Wallabies played in a Bledisloe doubleheader.
It is the first time since 2016, that New Zealand and Australia had faced each other with the Kiwi's having dominated their previous 15 encounters.
It was also a special match the Wallaroos as they played their 50th international game.
New Zealand went on to keep their unbeaten streak alive against Australia with a 31-11 victory at ANZ Stadium.
While steps were made in rugby union, there is still a long way go.
It was also revealed that players in the Super W were not be paid during the 2018 season and it could continue with the CBA, which didn't include the competition, running until December 2020.
These are in no particular order, The Women's Game just wants to bring you some of the best moments from 2018.
