Alja Tomljanovic has bounced back from a tough few months in style, through to the second round of the US Open.
The Aussie world number 47 came back from losing the first set 1-6, just as Ash Barty did in her first round encounter, to cruise to a three set victory over her opponent, Czech Republic's Marie Bouzkova.
The 26-year-old converted eight out of 16 break points and won 70% of her first serve points, despite a relatively disappointing serve-in percentage, to take out the match 1-6, 7-5, 6-1.
23-year-old Aussie world number 97, Astra Sharma lost her first round match 6-3, 6-4 to Pole Maga Linette.
After making the second round at the Australian Open earlier this year, her first round exit at the US Open now means the Singapore-born right-hander has competed at the main event of every Grand Slam this year.
