The Adelaide Thunderbirds will be on the hunt for a new coach after Dan Ryan was told he will not be at the club next season.
Ryan has been told there will be no extension to his two-year contract which will be completed at the end of this season.
“This is the time to take the opportunity to thank Dan Ryan for his commitment and passion to the Adelaide Thunderbirds over the last two years in his role as Head Coach, as well as his four years as an Assistant Coach, which included the 2013 Premiership,” said Netball SA CEO Ben Scales.
“The Adelaide Thunderbirds is a proud club with a rich history of success, however, over the past two years we have not had the on-court success that is required to remain competitive at this level.”
The Thunderbirds have just won a single game under Ryan, which was a come-from-behind victory over West Coast Fever in the first round of Suncorp Super Netball last season.
Overall, they have lost the last 21 games which Netball SA has cited to be unacceptable and has warranted ongoing review and assessment of why this is the case, both on and off the court.
It will be the fifth time there has been a coaching change at the Thunderbirds in four years after Michelle den Dekker was appointed when Jane Woodlands-Thompson stood down at the end of 2015.
den Dekker was then replaced by current Collingwood coach Kristy Keppich-Birrell for the final five games in 2016.
