Newcastle Jets co-captain Tara Andrews continued her stellar season with USL W-League outfit Colorado Pride by leading them to the Western Conference championship on Saturday.
Andrews two first half goals, including a spectacular 35 yard strike, was enough for the Pride to claim the conference title, in just their second season, with a 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders.
The win sees the Pride qualify as the second seed for the USL Final Four championships to be held this weekend.
Andrews' exploits this season in the USL W-League has seen the Newcastle native earn both the Golden Boot and Scoring Champion honors for 2015 after leading the W-League with 18 goals and three assists for 39 points in 11 games.
The 21 year old also earned 3 Team of the Week selections and was named the Player of the Week in Week 3 after netting five goals against Arizona.
Andrews will be a top contender for further W-League awards announced later this week including the All-Conference Teams (Wednesday), the All-League Team (Thursday) and finalists for Coach of the Year, Defender of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player (Friday) with those awards announced at the W-League Championship Awards Banquet in Laval on Sunday (Australian time).
Andrews and Colorado Pride now head to the 2015 W-League Championship where the No. 2 Colorado facing No. 3 Laval Comets early Saturday morning in the semi finals.
