Defending W-League Champions Sydney FC have named their 20 player squad for the 2013/14 W-League season.
A strong combination of youth and experience the squad boasts 12 of last year's Championship team with several welcome new additions.
Returning from season ending knee injuries, Sydney stalwarts Danielle Brogan and Leena Khamis are welcome returns while two times Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Casey Dumont has joined as has former Melbourne Victory striker Jodie Taylor who returns to the W-League at the head of the attack.
“I’m very happy with the make-up of our squad this season,” said Head Coach Alen Stajcic. “We have the right mix of experience and youth and I’m hoping we can go all of the way again.”
“We are building a strong team at Sydney FC, one I hope can continue to be successful in future years.”

A big boost for the Sky Blues, Taylor brings vast experience in Australia and overseas. In her time away from the W-League the 27 year old captured the Women's FA Cup with Birmingham City, where she was named Player of the Match, was nominated for the inaugural PFA Women's Football of the Year and led the Swedish League as top goalscorer prior to her departing Göteborg FC.
“Jodie has a fantastic goalscoring pedigree as W-League fans will know,” said Stajcic. “I’m really looking forward to seeing her fit into our squad.”
The squad also sees the return of West Australian forward Sam Kerr for a second season and Ellyse Perry.
One big loss is Championship captain Kyah Simon who earlier this week announced her move to the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Along with Simon, Matildas defender Alanna Kennedy (Western Sydney), Young Matildas Meg McLaughlin (Canberra United) and Larissa Crummer (Brisbane Roar) have also departed the Sky Blues.
Sydney FC will play against MacArthur Rams at Campbelltown Stadium this Saturday in their first pre-season game. Kick off is at 2:30pm and the Sky Blues will be holding free football clinics run by the W-League players and coaching staff for all kids on the day from 1pm-2pm. Head to the Stadium early to participate in these mini clinics.
Sydney FC commences their season with a Grand Final rematch against the Melbourne Victory on Sunday, 10 November 2013.
