During the mid-season bye, Sydney FC and Melbourne City have added to their squads with two international signings.

Orlando Pride goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe has become the Sky Blues second international signing.

On loan for the season, Bledsoe made 11 appearances for the Pride during the 2017 following an injury to starting goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris.

“Aubrey had a fantastic season for us this year and we’re excited for her to continue her development in Australia," said Pride head coach Tom Sermanni.

"This is a great opportunity for her to get some more playing time.”

The 25 year old joins Sydney's goalkeeping stocks that includes Sham Khamis and  Sheridan Rainey.  Bledsoe will be available for this week's clash between Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory.

Meanwhile Melbourne City’s Seattle Reign connection continues with the announcement of English international Jodie Taylor signing for the club on a guest player contract.

Taylor, 31, will join City in December for a seven-game stint before joining the Reign on a permanent deal at the start of the new NWSL season next year.

She leaves Arsenal Women with five goals in nine appearances.

The FA’s Women’s Player of the Year for 2017 is excited to be joining Patrick Kisnorbo’s team as they search for a third consecutive title.

"I'm delighted to be joining Melbourne City - a Club which is widely recognised as continuously raising the bar for women's football.”

“I've played all over the world and I know how passionate the support is for the game in Australia. I cannot wait to get out and play for the fans.”

On the international stage, the striker has 15 goals for England in 30 appearances and was the Golden Boot at the 2017 European Championships.

Head coach Kisnorbo noted how Taylor would fit in to an already deadly City strike force: “Jodie is a fantastic striker who will help reinforce the attacking threat and firepower already at our disposal.”

“Her movement off the ball, willingness to work hard for the team and her goal-scoring ability will make her a valuable addition to our team and we are all looking forward to her arrival. “

This will be the Englishwoman’s third stint in Australia. She played for Melbourne Victory for two seasons – finishing as the club’s top scorer on both occasions – between 2010 and 2012.

She then played for Sydney FC in the 2013/14, scoring almost a goal a game with 10 in 12 appearances and was the league’s golden boot – the first international to win the accolade in W-League history.

Taylor will arrive in Australian in January.
