After a stellar first season with the Boston Breakers in the WPSL Elite, Sydney FC's Kyah Simon has been re-signed by the New England club for the upcoming North American National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
Simon becomes the third Australian to be announced in the league after Sam Kerr joined Western New York Flash and Lisa De Vanna was picked up by Sky Blue FC (both pending league approval).
21 year old Simon had a stellar debut season with the Breakers scoring on debut and going on to become their leading goalscorer and second top in the WPSL Elite with 12 goals in 13 games.
"I am really excited to be returning to Boston and to play for the Boston Breakers in what sounds to be a great new league this season," said Simon.
"I look forward to catching up with all my teammates and everyone at club, including the fantastic Breakers supporters. I had a great experience last season, and everyone at the club as well as my host family helped me feel right at home, and I am pleased that I will get the chance to come back to Boston again and help the club be successful on and off the field."
“I’m excited about having Kyah back and for her to get the opportunity to play against the best in the world,” Boston Breakers Head Coach Lisa Cole said.
“She’s shown that she’s one of the best forwards in the world.”
Simon will be playing alongside Breakers teammates from last season as well as USWNT stars Heather O'Reilly, Heather Mitts and Sydney Leroux.
