06-09-per-new-prevPerth Glory return home after two road trips to host the Newcastle Jets in Round 9 of the W-League.

For the Glory a little pride was restored as they pushed the Brisbane Roar all the way in their Round 8 encounter before eventually falling 2-1.

Meanwhile the Jets tough season continued with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of state rivals Sydney FC.

Although Brisbane had control of the match for large periods, the visitors fashioned many of their own chances and were left rueing not converting them.

Marianna Tabain and Ella Mastrantonio had strong games in the midfield while Rosie Sutton and Kate Gill continue to be leading lights up front.

In the end it was to quick goals on the counter attack that cost the Glory despite a Sutton header giving them hope in the final minutes.

From the outset it was clear it would be another rough day for the Jets as they encountered a Sydney FC in red-hot form.

This was despite a promising start from the home side as they pushed the Sydney defence back early in the match.  Hannah Beard, Rhali Dobson and Tara Andrews  in particular creating a number of opportunities.

Against the run of play, a nicely worked moved ended in Nicola Bolger opening the score and from then on the match was in Sydney's keeping.

For Perth, they will be looking to end a run of four losses while Newcastle will be gunning for their first points of the season.

In guest player Christina Julien's final game for the Glory before heading off to trial in Germany, the Glory will be looking for one final leading performance from the striker and her partners Gill, Sutton and Elisa D'Vidio.

Their interaction will be the Glory's best chance of arresting a mid-season slide and keeping their slim finals chances alive.

The Jets will be hoping international Ciara McCormack can have another good match to help stifle the Perth attack and that Beard, Dobson and Co can convert chances that come their way.

The last time these two sides met was back in the season opener with Perth Glory cruising to a 5-2 win at Wanderers Oval.
