Fresh off their first win of the season, Adelaide United host ladder leaders Perth Glory in Round 7 of the W-League.
Adelaide will be chasing two wins on the trot after ambushing Canberra United on the road thanks to a double from captain Kristy Moore and a cool finish from Tiarn Powell.
Meanwhile Perth Glory notched up a history making sixth win after a tight 1-0 win over second placed Sydney FC with Marianna Tabain supplying a worthy match winning strike.
Adelaide enter this encounter gaining some much needed confidence after a win over the highly rated United.
It was a match where the Reds finally converted their chances and their defence held up well against a dynamic and quick Canberra attack.
Key to that victory and vital again this weekend was the performance of the midfield and defence.
Katie Holtham and Lisa Marie Woods worked well in tandem with Holtham providing excellent cover for the defence while Woods was the crucial link to the attack.
With Perth missing Collette McCallum, and the less experienced Gabrielle Marzano entering the fray, the Reds will be looking to control the centre of the park and hopefully dominate the ball.
Down back the addition of Danielle Brogan has already paid dividends with Brogan supplying some of the experience and calmness missing from the Reds defence after the loss of Snez Veljanovska with a season ending knee injury.
Brogan alongside the ever improving Jenna McCormick and with Melissa Barbier provide a more solid defensive base and are better equipped to handle the best attack in the competition.
For Perth they will be looking to drive at the heart of the Adelaide defence with the pace of Tabain, Caitlin Foord and Elisa D’Ovidio.
In McCallum’s absence Marzano has a big job although the midfielder demonstrated last week that she has the ability to more than hold her own. Shawn Billiam and Shannon May will also be need good matches against a more experienced Adelaide midfield.
Defensively Perth have improved week after week with the last two seeing them maintain clean sheets.
The defensive partnership of Alanna Kennedy and Shelina Zardosky, the outside cover of Sarah Carroll and Bronwyn Studman have made the Glory more difficult to break down while Mackenzie Arnold has proved hard to get through.
Perth come into the match with the confidence of the best start in W-League history and the longest winning streak in club history.
While Perth has dominated the head to head between these two, recent encounters have been hard fought with the last match, in Round 3, seeing the Glory edge past Adelaide 3-1.
