Fresh off their first win of the season, the Western Sydney Wanderers return home to take on the Newcastle Jets in Round 6 of the W-League.
The Wanderers put in a big effort to turn around a comprehensive home loss to Perth Glory to a gutsy 2-1 away win against Season 6 grand finalists Brisbane Roar.
Meanwhile for the Newcastle Jets there was a sense of disappointment and frustration in being unable to stop Sydney FC claiming a 1-0 win, despite their own strong performance.
Newcastle will be quietly confident heading into this match with their two wins on the board backed up by five competitive performances.
All across the park the Jets have an advantage, although slight in some areas, over their opponents with the pace of Rhali Dobson and Tara Andrews sure to trouble Caitlin Cooper, Jessica Seaman, Kendall Johnson and co if they don't keep a tight check on the duo.
Defensively Women's Premier League teammates Hayley Crawford and Georgia Yeoman-Dale, along with American Katherine Reynolds and local Cassidy Davis, will feel like they can contain Michelle Carney, Hannah Beard and Helen Petinos.
Although the Wanderers trio will have gained some confidence from last week's performance with Carney and Beard, in particular, utilising their experiences to lead Wanderers effective counter attacks.
The midfield is where it all gets interesting with the duel between the Wanderers Keelin Winters, Linda O'Neil and Demi Koulizakis and the Jets Emily van Egmond, Tori Huster and Angela Salem.
In victory this season, it has been the midfield combinations of the respective teams to lead the way. If the Wanderers trio can quell the influence of the Jets engine room, it will go a long way to the home side obtaining a result.
Conversely if the Jets can break the shackles, they have the strikers to do the business or the eye for goal to go themselves.
The last time these two sides met it was the Wanderers who dominated a young Jets sides for a comfortable 3-0 win.
With both sides almost unrecognisable thanks to the changes in personnel, that result will have little bearing on what is not set to be a close contest.
