The Western Sydney Wanderers host high flying Perth Glory in Round 4 of the W-League.
The Wanderers put in a dogged performance against cross city rivals Sydney FC in Round 3 but it wasn't enough as the Sky Blues claimed the point in a 2-0 win.
Perth Glory on the other hand continued their winning start to the season with a strong 3-1 victory over Adelaide United in Perth.
The two sides enter the match sitting on opposite sides of the table; Perth in second while the Wanderers occupy the lower regions.
The Glory enter this match full of confidence with all the parts for their machine firing. Sam Kerr and Elisa D'Ovidio scored their first goals to give all the Glory forwards a taste of goal while Collette McCallum and Caitlin Foord continue to feed Kerr, D'Ovidio and Gill with quality ball.
Defensively the Glory have been solid with Alanna Kennedy and Shelina Zardosky quickly forming a strong defensive partnership while Mackenzie Arnold has been dependable at the back. Despite this, Perth are still looking for their first clean sheet of the season and will be looking to tick off that achievement this Sunday.
For the Wanderers, while Season 6 continues to provide a sharp learning curve, Norm Boardman should be satisfied with the week to week improvement of the side.
Helen Petinos and Michelle Carney continue to provide the threats up front while defensively Caitlin Cooper has marshalled a new look defence that includes the impressive Kendall Johnson and promising debutante Victoria Guzman.
The midfield will have a battle on their hands in Round 4 with the losses of Keelin Winters and Linda O'Neill to be keenly felt. Round 1 goalscorer Demi Koulizakis, youngster Lorena Bugden as well as the experienced Hanna Beard's ability to adapt to the losses will be crucial to the Wanderers success on the day.
Following on from their strong finish to Season 6, Perth Glory are on a five match winning streak, the longest in club history while the Wanderers are on their longest loss streak in their short history. The match also has a little extra spice as it sees the return of former Wanderers Arnold and Kennedy to their former home.
While it appears a David v Goliath battle, the history between these two sides suggests it may be a closer contest than anticipated with the head to head between Western Sydney Wanderers and Perth Glory seeing both sides enjoying 2 wins a piece in their four previous encounters.
