Adelaide United host the Newcastle Jets at Adelaide Shores Football Centre in the W-League Match of the Round.

Perth Glory proved too strong for the young Adelaide side.  The Glory netted 3 goals, but could have had a few more if not for the Lady Reds goal stopper Melissa Barbieri who had another stand out game, while the Reds could only manage the lone goal through Lisa Marie Woods.

It was a similar story for Newcastle when they took on the Brisbane Roar as the Roar netted 3 goals for their first win of the season, in a match that saw Nadine Angerer return in between the post.

The Jets managed a Newcastle  a consolation goal in the 77th minute through Rhali Dobson but it was not enough to affect the scoreline.

Adelaide will need to find something up forward if they are to win any games this year. Struggling to produce any real threat up forward they will need their young guns to start firing.

Defensively the team have been solid but need to move the ball quicker through the middle of the park and provide balls into the path of their forwards.

Katrine Pedersen and Katie Holtham will have their hands full with the likes of Emily Van Egmond, who after a season over in America seems to have gained some stature and is looking dangerous. Her American counter parts Angela Salem and Tori Hustler help her to strengthen this side.

Salem and Tara Andrews  could prove threats to Adelaide's defensive back line but  Jenna McCormick and Lauren Steer have provided resistance in their earlier matches.

Andrews has always had a good record against Adelaide, scoring 4 goals back in January 2011 to help the Jets to record 7-1 victory. Can she do it again this week?

Adelaide will be without youngster Alex Chidiac for this game as she has been one of 23 players selected for national duties with the Mini Matildas.

Adelaide United and the Newcastle Jets have met in 11 previous encounters with Newcastle winning 5 of those games and the two teams drawing 3 times. Will this be Adelaide’s first win of the season or can Newcastle get back into the winners circle?
