Perth Glory looking to continue their good start at home Perth Glory looking to continue their good start at home

Last year's beaten semi finalists Perth Glory and Brisbane Roar met in Round 2 of the W-League in what is set to be a tight encounter.

Perth Glory come of a strong 5 - 2 win over the Newcastle Jets but will be looking to improve their performance this weekend.

Round 1 demonstrated Perth's strong attacking credentials with their front six very much on form.  Kate Gill opened the scoring in the first 13 seconds and from them on the Glory scored at regular intervals with puppet master Collette McCallum pulling the strings.

Brisbane Roar fell to a shock 3 - 0 loss to Canberra United in the opening round.  Pre-season favourites, the Roar were jumped by a Canberra side intent on redemption after missing the finals last season.  Despite the scoreline the Roar did create their chances with the Tameka Butt and Amy Chapman most dangerous.

With two of the most potent attacks in the competition, this battle will be won in the midfield and defence.  Quite simply, whichever midfield can take control and supply their forwards, and whichever defence can hold steady will win the match.

Crucial to this will be the duel of Collette McCallum and her Matildas heir-apparent Katrina Gorry.  Both players are a treat to watch with their vision and radar like passing precision and range.

Canberra and Newcastle were both provided with too much space and shots on goal. The difference for the two teams was that Canberra took advantage of their openings.  Defensively both teams will need better performances than those dished out in Round 1.

Their last encounter saw the Roar salvage a late point after clawing back from an 0 - 2 deficit at home.
