Midweek action this week sees the inform Adelaide United take on Melbourne Victory in the reschedule Round 12 match.

This match has been moved due to Melbourne Victory's participation in the International Women's Club Championships in Japan.

Adelaide come off a surprising win over top place Perth Glory with captain Kristi Moore with the only goal in the closely fought 1 – 0 game.

The contest was a tug of war between the two sides with each keeper being tested time and time again but Adelaide’s defence held true with new signing Danielle Brogan make a big difference in the back line.

Melbourne on the other hand has slipped in the last couple of outings with only a draw against a flailing Brisbane Roar and a loss to Canberra United.

Canberra proved too strong as a record crowd of over 14,000 watched over the game at Etihad Stadium with Ashleigh Sykes scoring the only goal for that match and taking all three points.

Melbourne just wasn’t able to get service to their star forward Lisa De Vanna and lacked the final pass into the scoring third.

Adelaide will go into this match full of confidence after defeating Canberra and Perth in their last two games.

Lisa Marie Woods and Katrine Pedersen have proven strong in the midfield and are now moving forward to support the attack and have shots on goal themselves as they did last week.

With three goals in two games, Kristy Moore will once again be a the focal point up forward and, with her pace and agility, Melbourne’s back line will have a hard time keeping up.

Five of the Lady Reds will be jetting off with the Young Matildas at the conclusion of this match having impressed the national coaches and will want to be at their peak before they depart.

Melbourne on the other hand will be missing three of their key players due to suspension and injury and will have to compensate for their losses.

Ella Mastrantonio, Amy Jackson and Christine Nairn will have to step up a notch and hold the midfield tight if they have any chance of scoring. While up front former Reds striker Racheal Quigley, youngster Beattle Goad and Gema Simon will be the focus of a reshaped attack.

The back four will no doubt have their hands full keeping an eye out for Emily Condon and Moore. Cassie Dimovski was solid in between the post last week and will be looking to continue in the same direction.

In the 11 encounters between these two sides Adelaide United have never beaten Melbourne Victory and Adelaide have only scored 2 goals in all those matches.

However, with the Lady Reds defying history in the past two seasons, can this match be the breakthrough that Adelaide has been working hard towards? Will Melbourne pull together and get back on track for the finals?

All will be revealed at 7:30 pm Wednesday night at Adelaide Shores Football Centre.
