Both sides will be looking to complete disappointing seasons, by their high expectations, with a win and end the season on a positive note.

Perth arrested a late season slump with a character building 1-0 win over the finals bound Melbourne Victory last week thanks to a Kate Gill goal.

While the goal, pounced on after a rifle of a strike from Shawn Billam, was pleasing what was more impressive for Jamie Harnwell's young squad was their resilience in hanging on against a charging Victory side.

Central defenders Sasha Andrews and Cecilie Sandvej were excellent, Shawn Billam was an anchor in the midfield while Kate Gill worked tirelessly to provide outlets as Perth looked to strike on the counter.

That application should serve them well against a higher fancied Western Sydney Wanderers side in the same position.

For the Wanderers it is a season they would rather forget.

Highly touted at the beginning of the season, and despite a quality playing roster, all manner of this have derailed their campaign for a finals berth.

Last week saw them fall to cross city rivals Sydney FC 3-0 with nothing going their way as they hit the woodwork no less than on four occasions.

The 3-0 scoreline was not indicative of the tight match it was.  In her last home match Catherine Cannuli was effective going forward, Emily Van Egmond, and when she returned, Tori Huster strong against a packed Sydney midfield and Dimi Poulos demonstrated why she has kept a Matildas 'keeper out of the line up.

However, in the end the Sky Blues just had that little bit more class.

The Wanderers will be hoping a little bit of luck goes their way this weekend and with the return of Michelle Carney and Heather Garriock, their receive their own little bit of class back.

This match will be won and lost on which side can convert their chances.

On paper the Wanderers possess the more experienced midfield and should control that engine room but Perth have time and again demonstrated how deadly they are on the counter.

With Kate Gill up front, they know they have a striker who can make the most of any half chances that come her way while the Wanderers will be hoping Cannuli and Carney can continue their strong finishes to the season.

The last time these two sides met it was the Western Sydney Wanderers to ended up victors with a comfortable 3-0 win.
