Last round saw Sydney FC regain their mojo with an unexpected 5-0 smashing of Adelaide United Lady Reds away from home. Not to be outdone, newly crowned season Premiers Perth Glory also secured a comfortable 5-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers.
Sydney FC finally managed a triumphant win and just in time for their biggest challenge.
But as important as the high scoreline was for the finals run, it was the Sky Blue side's cohesion resulting in actual execution that surprised.
The win away had four goal scorers on the board including three that don't have the name Jasmyne Spencer.
Renee Rollason and Olivia Price stepping up to cleanly score while Nicola Bolger launched an all-out rampage to pocket a brace in what was her performance of the season.
Sydney needed the full squad to shine in order to secure strong results - and it seems the time has come to put the pedal to the metal. Price with her first ever W-league goal after a successful Young Matildas campaign.
With an enthusiastic Trudy Camilleri ready and raring to go, along with a focused Teresa Polias playing on her home turf, Glory have a few things to keep them up at night.
However, the biggest fear for the purple swag is in the form of a returning Kyah Simon.
Back in Sky Blue after a missed season due to an ACL injury, Simon will be playing to remind audiences why she was a former golden boot.
Perth Glory are fighting fit and have been the team to beat since Round 1. Securing the Premiership with 3 rounds to spare reflects their outstanding consistency with only one narrow loss marring their impeccable record.
The last time Perth Glory met the Western Sydney Wanderers they won 10-1. This time they managed "just" 5 goals and would be pleased not to concede.
It remains to be seen if the Glory can take this regular season form into the edgy world of w-league finals. But the signs are positive that they could win the league.
Key Glory players to look out for this round are former Sydney FC forward Sam Kerr and one-time Sky Blue icon Caitlin Foord.
The troublesome two pairing up to provide a solid standing for whatever club they play for, Kerr was notably absent the last time she met her former team so expect Kerr to go off like a ripped flare on this occasion.
Kate Gill continues to lead the league in goalscoring but it is the unsung performances of Collette McCallum and Alanna Kennedy that have kept the defensive spine unwavering.
Sydney FC know the pressure is on to make the finals so they have everything to play for. But Perth Glory are sharp and have set their goals high.
Expect a flammable and fast paced match as key figures are out to prove a point as to why they should be starting in Green & Gold at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The last time these two met it was a tightly contested battle that Glory narrowly won 1-0 on their home turf.
The match saw Sydney's hero goalkeeper Casey Dumont cop a few late knocks and end up out of action for 6 weeks with a lacerated liver. So there is much to play for as Sydney FC reach a crux in their campaign and look for revenge.
This game will prove decisive for both parties and could precede semi final rematch so tune into ABC1, grab lots of snacks, and prepare to get involved.
