Round 11 sees Brisbane Roar travel to a very hot Adelaide to take on Adelaide United.
The game time has changed from 2.pm to 7.30pm as the forecast weather will be hitting 42 degrees in the second half of the game.
Last start saw Adelaide United once again taste heartbreak as they fell to Sydney FC 2-1 in stoppage.
Sydney FC teenager Amy Harrison denied them any share of the points as she slotted home the winning goal for her side in the 95th minute.
Up until then it had been tied at 1-1, thanks to a first half goal from international star Jodie Taylor and Adelaide’s captain Kristy Moore scoring her first for the season, with the contest on the park as tight as it was on the scoreboard.
Brisbane Roar also had a close encounter with a narrow win over Western Sydney Wanderers 3-2.
Goals from Larissa Crummer and Hayley Raso saw the Roar side go into the halftime break tied on 2-2 with Wanderers scoring duo Michelle Carney and Shawna Gordon getting on the board for the away team.
Heather Garriock was helped from the ground with a second yellow card in the second half which gave the Roar an edge as the Wanderers were down to ten players.
Tameka Butt then capitalised on the extra space and a beautiful pass from Vedrana Popovic with a cracking shot past the Wanderers 'keeper to take all three points from the Sydneysiders and end their finals hopes.
As they have all season, Adelaide will have to pick themselves up from another disappointing late loss and will need to bring their A game to the pitch this week.
With Laura Alleway receiving a straight red in the previous encounter early on in their last encounter, Adelaide will be looking to show that they can repeat their win with a with a full Brisbane team on the pitch.
Katrina Gorry will be a handful for Lisa Marie Woods in the middle of the park but one that the Norwegian should be able to keep a tight rein on.
With Tameka Butt and Emily Gielnik in the Brisbane side this time Adelaide’s defence will have their work cut out for them. Monique Ianella was able to keep Sam Kerr under control for most of last week against Sydney FC and will need to be that strong again with the two forwards.
While the pacey Jenna McCormick will need to match it with the Roar's own speedsters Raso and Crummer who are strong young players and have earned their place in the starting line up.
While they have been defensively solid, moving forward has been the most difficult task for the Lady Reds this season.
With their pressing game working well, Ross Aloisi will be looking for his talented on-ballers, including Moore, Woods and new recruit Louise Mason, to lift the intensity in their transition to attack if they are going to score against the FIFA Player of the Year.
Despite Brisbane Roar leading the head to head comfortably, traditionally Brisbane and Adelaide United have had close matches with the Lady Reds claiming the last bragging rights with a 1-0 win on Brisbane's home turf.
Although Adelaide are unable to make the finals now they still have something to play for. Currently sitting in 5th place they would be looking to hold on to this position so they can end the season at their highest point on the ladder in 6 seasons.
Perth Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers are not far behind them wins in the last two games of the matches are a must.
Brisbane on the other hand will be trying to gain a home final and will want to take advantage of a loss to fellow top 4 rivals Melbourne Victory.
