Round 1 of the W-League saw several outstanding performances across the league. The TWG team got together to vote on our Team of the Week.

Goalkeeper

Lydia Williams (Canberra United): Returned for her first W-League game in nearly two years and looked to have not missed a beat.  Pulled out several top class saves to deny a potent Brisbane Roar attack

Defenders

Amy Harrison (Sydney FC): Held her own defensively on the left and was dangerous offensively

Liz Ralston (Sydney FC):  After the initial goal Ralston was rarely beaten and often reclaimed possession with a strong tackle

Ellie Brush (Canberra United):  Strong and composed in a new partnership.  Covering work was excellent

Sarah Carroll (Perth Glory): Kick-started many of Glory's attacks while securing the right flank

Midfielders

Nicola Bolger (Sydney FC):  Busy in the midfield. Perfectly timed runs resulted in two goals and involved in the build up to all Sydney goals

Lori Lindsey (Canberra United):  A goal and routinely released Stephanie Ochs and Michelle Heyman's into space

Kristy Moore (Adelaide United):  Was everywhere in the Adelaide midfield.  All that was missing was a goal

Teresa Polias (Sydney FC): Time and again broke up the Melbourne attack before finding a Sydney team mate for the counter attack

Forwards

Michelle Heyman (Canberra United)Touch and pace was back and clinical against one of the world's best goalkeepers

Jodie Taylor (Sydney FC): Movement caused plenty of problems for her former side.  Finishing was first class
