The historic club rivalry between Carlton and Collingwood can be dated right back to 1897 in the AFL.

But in the women's game, Carlton will have the chance to make history this Sunday by remaining undefeated by Collingwood throughout all their AFLW meetings.

Since 2017 the teams have only met 3 times, with Carlton stealing the 3 out of 3 victories, however the 2020 meet will bring a crucial battle for top spot within Conference B.

After kicking off their campaign in style the accolades continued for the girls in navy blue with 3 players featuring in the AFLW team of the week including MVP nominee Maddy Prespakis.

In addition to this, debutant Lucy McEvoy further received an AFLW Rising Star nomination after her stand out performance, as the young gun proved the vital role she will play in the Baggers’ 2020 season.

After solid performances from Vaomua Lalofi, Grace Egan, Lucy McEvoy and Joanne Doonan the four debutants hold their position in the starting lineup for Round 2 alongside Tayla Harris and Breann Moody.

The Baggers will look to gain momentum in the opener quarter placing pressure upon Collingwood’s defence whilst maintaining possession in order to capitalize on early points.

Previous 2019 Carlton captain and new Pies signing Brianna Davey and Carlton’s Jayde Van Dyke have both been ruled out for Sunday's clash due to injury.

After a strong start to their 2020 season Collingwood will be pushing to further their 2020 campaign and will throw everything they have at Carlton to ensure history does not repeat itself.

This Round 2 rivalry will take place at Ikon Park 3.10pm Sunday February 16. Record crowds are predicted as the girls in navy blue look to take another four points with an added home crowd advantage.
