November 2015 winner Ashleigh Sykes heads the December 2015 nominees for Professional Footballers Australia’s (PFA) W-League Player of the Month for December.
Sykes is nominated alongside fellow November nominees and Melbourne City forward Kim Little, Brisbane Roar playmaker Katrina Gorry and Melbourne Victory’s striker Natasha Dowie.
PFA Executive Member Lydia Williams said all four nominees were worthy of the recognition.
“I would like to congratulate the four nominees,” said Williams.
“The players will face a tough task to pick a winner.
“All four were in great form during December and have played a big part in what has been a fantastic W-League season so far.”
Canberra United forward Sykes and Little were instrumental in their clubs' unbeaten form in the month of December Both Sykes and Little netted three goals assisting both their teams in claiming berths in this month's final series.
Meanwhile Gorry has been the key to Brisbane Roar's late surge for a finals berth with the midfielder's work rate and vision in the heart of the Roar midfield leading to a recent scoring glut for the two time W-League champions. Scoring once during December, the Victory’s Dowie has also been nominated for the first time this season for the award.
The nominees are chosen by an awards committee made of Matildas legends and leading figures in the Australian football media.
