Following on from her well publicised departure from reigning W-League champions Canberra United,  Matildas' defender Ellyse Perry has confirmed her move to Sydney FC for the 2012/13 W-League season.

The 21 year old and her former club went their separate ways in May leaving Perry without a club for Season Five of the W-League.  However, following several offers and negotiations, the fullback has finally settled on her hometown club.

"I moved back to Sydney FC for a number of reasons," she said in a recent interview with Nick Anderson.

"My family is here, I study at Sydney University doing social sciences and economics and my cricket is based in Sydney with the NSW Breakers."

For Ellyse Perry it's a homecoming that's followed a circuitous route with the dual international previously representing the Central Coast Mariners as well as the aforementioned United.

The advantages in playing for the Sky Blues under the guidance of NSWIS and former Young Matildas' coach Alen Stajcic are numerous, especially with Perry looking to work her way back into national team reckoning.  She believes that, among other things, the shorter commute will help in that goal.

"It was difficult to constantly commute three hours there and then three hours back for games and training and I was missing training sessions for both sports."

"I have been back at training now for a little while and I'm looking to bring the championship back to Sydney FC."

Perry becomes the third new signing for Stajcic's side with Alanna Kennedy and Sam Kerr joining in July from the Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory respectively.

Sydney FC commence their pre-season training this Saturday.
