Australia take on Hong Kong at Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka, Malaysia in their second match of the AFC U16 Championship qualifiers.

Ante Juric's squad commenced their campaign with a confident performance against Vietnam with the Mini Matildas running out comfortable winners 6-0.

"It wasn't a bad start," said Juric.

"Obviously it was the girls first international trip overseas and game, so they were a little bit weary and nervous about how they were going to approach the game."

"They did quite well and scoring an early goal settled nerves which is was important."

"Once they settled they played some good football and I was very happy and proud of how they performed."

Secure at the back, the Mini Matildas worked on pressing a Vietnam side traditionally difficult to unlock with Melina Ayres, the Taranto Twins, Adriana and Melissa, Panagiota Petratos, Alex Chidiac and Princess Ibini leading the charge.

While there were a lot of positives, Juric also learnt valuable information about his side in match conditions.

"The first half I was very impressed; it was quite professional for a young group. They did everything we asked of them."

"The girls played good quick football, used the attacking patterns we came up with and a lot the goals were exactly how we planned at training."

"Second half I think maybe its youth. Once you start to win comfortably you start to do your own thing. That again is an experience thing so it was actually a good lesson for the girls on teamwork."

Second match opponent Hong Kong presents a similar challenge for the Mini Matildas and, with only a day's rest for Saturday's team, Juric is aiming to freshen up the starting line up with 10 changes due.

Drawn in Group C, the Mini Matildas are up against Vietnam, Hong Kong and Korea Republic in a league style competition with the group winner making their way through to the 2015 championships.

With Korea Republic comprehensively defeating Hong Kong 11-0, Juric is hoping for a similar performance from his side to put them in pole position for a "winner takes all" clash against the Koreans on Wednesday.

"Although we are playing Hong Kong, and you can't take any opposition lightly, we are expecting to win."

"I am looking to win all three games but, in this tournament style, it could come down to goal difference."

"It would be handy if we won by a large margin, I am mindful of that, but a solid performance will hopefully mean that takes care of itself."

Australia's clash with Hong Kong kicks off at 7.30pm (AEST) with updates on TWG’s Facebook andTwitter.
