“She’s got a long career ahead of her and I just feel with her coming into our setup, our environment and where we are as a footballing nation that can only benefit her both short term and long term."

Fowler has been training overseas for the past few months including with Chelsea Ladies.

Recently she returned to Australia and signed with NPL Women's NSW side Bankstown City alongside sister Ciara. In her only appearance so far, she scored two goals in the teams 4-2 win over the Emerging Jets.

Alongside her NPLW commitments, she has been training with Matildas assistant coach Gary van Egmond in the Future Matildas program.

Those who have coached Fowler have described her as a hard worker, a great technician and a lethal finisher that can play with both feet.

“When I first started the job, I researched as much as possible and watched as much footage of her and other players as I could," he said.

“She was one that we had on the radar immediately."

While Milicic has high praise of Leichhardt FC junior he told media on Friday that with everything happening so quickly before the Cup of Nations it wasn't the right time to bring Fowler into the squad so he's looking forward to seeing what she can do.

“I’m looking forward to her coming into camp so I can see her live and see her quality on the field."
