Melbourne Victory have added some much needed firepower with the signing of England and Liverpool Ladies striker Natasha Dowie on loan.

Dowie, the Victory's fourth international signing, joins the Victory on a guest stint and will be limited to seven non-consecutive matches.

An out and out striker, the 27-year-old is a welcome boost for a Victory side that have been struggling for goals and with form this season, slumping to their 5th straight loss on Sunday.

"I have always wanted to play abroad and experience different styles of play," said Dowie.

"I am relishing the opportunity to go out on loan."

A two time FA WSL winner with Liverpool, Dowie has scored 42 goals for the Reds and was their leading goalscorer last season as Liverpool struggled to defend their title once again.

Victory coach Dave Edmondson will be hoping the experienced forward can partner with Matilda Hayley Raso and midfielder Christine Nairn as well as provide the finishing for a Victory's midfield play.

"Natasha brings a wealth of experience, both domestically and internationally, which will be invaluable to the young players in our squad," Edmondson said.

"It is great to be able to secure someone with Natasha's playing record at this stage of the season and I am extremely confident she will make an immediate impact when she starts playing later this month."

Dowie is set to arrive in Australia this week and will play her first match against Perth Glory on Saturday, 28 November.
