Newly crowned W-League champions Melbourne City will take on Manchester City Women's in a week long post season tour in Abu Dhabi.

The City Football Group sister clubs will play a one-off fixture on Wednesday, 17 February 2016 at the New York University Abu Dhabi Campus in the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy Challenge.

The match, which commences at 1:00am Australian time, will be broadcast live on the CFG's club channels as well as Abu Dhabi Sports 1.

“This tour represents an extension of the work we have been able to establish, execute and achieve in our inaugural season in Melbourne and will provide us with insights into Manchester City Women’s FC,” said head coach Joe Montemurro.

“To be able to give our players access to opportunities which will further them as footballers is another positive step in the evolution of our own women’s team in Melbourne.”

With many of Melbourne City's international players completing their loan stints, Montemurro will focus on youth for the tournament with a squad of 13 Australian players travelling on Friday to the emirate state.

The Australian contingent will be supplemented by train-on players Keelin Winters (Western Sydney Wanderers vice captain in Season 8) and Seattle Reign defender Rachel Corsie.

Staff and players will work directly with their colleagues from Manchester, with both sister clubs training alongside each other at the New York University Abu Dhabi Campus.

As well as the scheduled match, both clubs will be working closely with the UAE’s under-14 women’s team in a series of football clinics.
