With just four days until the FIFA Women's World Cup kicks off, we'd like to introduce The Women's Game team headed to France.
Writers
Angela Bacic
Angela is a journalist from Brisbane, who is a bit sport obsessed having grown up watching rugby league, netball and swimming. However, it wasn’t until the W-League started up that she knew women’s football existed.
At a young age, she’s always known she wanted to work in sport after deciding a career as a zookeeper wasn’t going to work out and while she wanted to be an Olympian and represent Australia she instead found a love in writing.
Ahead of the 2015/16 season she joined The Women’s Game to help cover Brisbane Roar and has been doing that ever since but has also expanded to cover any team and any sport in Australia.
Angela has been heavily involved in football from being a media manager in the NPL/NPLW up in Queensland to now working parttime at Football Queensland in their media department alongside her role at The Women's Game.
This will be Angela’s second major sporting event having covered the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. That was an experience she will never forget. She’s grateful that she has the opportunity to go to France and work at such a wonderful event and bring fans back home action from one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
Angela will only be in France for the group stage of the World Cup before coming home to help prepare coverage for the Netball World Cup.

Liana Buratti
Liana is a journalist from Sydney, who always had a love for the written word - but her second love was playing, watching and championing women in sport.
It wasn’t until the Matildas famous strike in 2017 that Liana realised she could merge her two passions together, to try and make a difference in the wonderful world of women’s sport
Writing her first Matildas article for The Women’s Game in 2017, she found where she wanted to spend the rest of her career. She threw in her job as a private investigator, put her journalism degree to good use and hasn’t looked back.
Liana now works full-time for the Australian Olympic Committee as a Content Coordinator but has volunteered for the last two W-League seasons with The Women’s Game, along with writing various features for other outlets like FourFourTwo and Beyond90. She also writes the women’s features for Football NSW’s NPLW competition.
The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be Liana’s first World Cup and to say she is grateful, humbled and extremely excited would be a huge understatement. Currently, she is brushing up on her French and coming up with ways to bring the World Cup to you in a way that’s different, exciting and exclusive. She sees herself as merely a vessel and loves bringing the audience closer to the players and the atmosphere, so don’t be afraid to reach out!

Marissa Lordanic
Marissa Lordanic is a writer for The Women’s Game off to her first World Cup. She still can’t quite believe that she’ll be watching Australia play in the world’s biggest tournament in the flesh. She can’t wait to see all the goals, soak up the atmosphere and share all the stories that will emerge from football’s showpiece event.

Photographers
Rachel Bach

Rachel Bach spent much of her childhood with a ball at her feet but turned to photography a little while after she realised she wasn’t destined to be a Matilda. Thus her moniker By The White Line was born, out of a desire to combine a love of sport and design. Rach will lead our photography team in France. She has covered the last three W-League seasons, Matildas matches across Australia since 2016, and the 2018 Asian Cup for TWG.
More recently, she quit her job to focus on photography full time after she was offered an opportunity with Nike. This has seen her travel across Australia and America, working closely with the Matildas. She’s been in Turkey and the Netherlands with the team to round off this project before France. Going to a World Cup has always been one of her goals, so you can imagine her excitement at the prospect of shooting at one. Being pitch side at a Matildas game in France will be a dream come true. Rach is excited to soak up the World Cup atmosphere. She’ll also be on the lookout for the best fromage and baguettes France has to offer (her DMs are open for suggestions).
