Following on from their unprecedented strike action on Tuesday, the Matildas have withdrawn from their tour of the United States set to commence next week.

With the team set to depart on Friday, the cancellation of the tour comes following the passing of tonight's deadline for an agreement with the FFA.

This is the latest development in negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement for the national team following the expiration of the previous CBA at the end of July 2015.

21 of the 25 contracted Matildas - USA & European time difference prevented others from participating - attended a meeting this afternoon at which a Letter of Offer from the FFA, to cover just this week's three day camp and the US tour, was tabled.

Those minimum conditions were daily rates and a match fee just to cover the

The Offer was unanimously rejected by the players they considered it did not provide for minimum pay and conditions.

“The players are currently uncontracted and are under no obligation to participate in any Matildas related activities,” said PFA CEO Adam Vivian.

“The players feel they have been left with no option other than to take this course of action. They were hopeful that FFA’s position would alter following yesterday’s breakdown in negotiations."

"However, the interim letter agreement offered to the players this afternoon, with a 6pm deadline, proved this had not been the case.

“As a result, the players rejected FFA’s proposal for the tour, which would have:

>> not provided the requisite a high performance environment;

>> failed to fairly remunerate them for the work they were being asked to undertake; and

>> provided them with no contractual certainty following the conclusion of the tour."

“The offer from FFA was simply unacceptable. The players stance will not change until a new agreement is reached."

With no CBA in place, the players have reportedly not received payments from the FFA for the past two months.

Australia were set to take on World Champions the USA on 17 and 20 September 2015.

With flights for the travelling group and reported ticket sales of 30,000 for both matches in Detroit and Alabama, there could also be financial ramifications for the tour cancellation.

US Soccer is set to be informed of the decision later this evening Australian time.
