For the second year in succession the Matildas will take part in the 12 team Cyprus Cup tournament.
The Cyprus Cup is a global invitational tournament held annually in Cyprus since 2008 with the 2015 edition running from 2 – 12 March 2015. Alongside the Algarve Cup, it is one of the few non-FIFA affiliated tournaments for national teams.
The Cyprus Cup Organising Committee have released the 11 teams confirmed to participate which includes Australia fellow World Cup qualifiers England, World Cup hosts Canada, South Korea with Mexico (who qualified just last week) still to be confirmed.
The 12 teams will be divided into 3 groups of 4 before playing off in "place" matches. Match days are scheduled for 4 March, 6 March, 9 March and finals day on 11 March 2015.
Australia finished seventh in their first run at the tournament with mixed results that included losses to France and Scotland, a draw with the Netherlands and a emphatic win over Italy in the 7th place playoff.
By the 2015 edition, Australia will know who their 2015 Women's World Cup group opponents will be, which makes the Cyprus Cup (with four guaranteed matches) ideal for the commencement of Australia's preparations under head coach Alen Stajcic.
